This is the only hand cream that doesn’t irritate my dehydrated skin

My winter dry skin is more severe than usual. This warrants an annual audit of my hand lotions. The Beekman 1802 Hand Cream Pure Goat Milk Hand Cream stands out this year. It is the only new hand cream that I have tried.

My skin is sensitive and dry. My skin is also affected by my frequent hand-washing and rock climbing. All that scrubbing, chalking up, and scrubbing can cause damage to my wrists, back, and knuckles. My hands turn bright red, rough, and cracked by the end of a winter day. All these reasons are why I am very selective about hand cream. Beekman’s goat milk-based moisturizer was a perfect choice.

I tried dozens of products (from bestsellers in drugstores to popular internet brands to boutique botanical ones), and I found the right one for me. I want a cream that is non-toxic and doesn’t contain any fragrances. I also need a cream that absorbs quickly and has a light, moisturizing texture. It must pass a skin test. I will test a small amount on my wrist. If I feel unsafe, I may also try it on the outside. This is where the product is most likely to irritate. In an odd twist, many of the creams I used during previous winters failed to pass the patch test this time. Beekman’s hand lotion was a gift I received once, and I vaguely remember that it didn’t make my skin more. It was exactly what I had been searching for.

It’s how it feels
Although it is called a hand crème, it is more accurate to refer to it as a lotion. It has a thinner consistency and comes in a tube instead of a jar. It’s super light and absorbs quickly into the skin. However, it provides the same relief as a heavier cream. My skin feels softer and less dry after I rub it in. It doesn’t feel as though I need to wash my hands immediately after applying the cream. Even after washing and drying my hands, the cream has absorbed into my hands and left them feeling smooth.

This hand cream has a lovely texture and a list of nourishing ingredients like shea butter, glycerin, and jojoba oil. It is also odorless, a massive plus for my sensitive skin. It also comes in various scents, including Fresh Air and Honeyed Grapefruit, Honey Blossom, Ylang Ylang, Tuberose, and Tuberose.

It was how I used it
When I return from climbing, I apply a small amount to my cuticles and calluses. I use it to make my crack-prone wrist skin supple and flexible. So, I apply some cream before I do any chaturanga-heavy yoga sessions. It is my go-to cream for windy and cold days.

It is beneficial after making dinner, when my hands get extra dry from multiple hand-washings, as well as handling raw meat and fresh vegetables. The cream provides instant relief that I enjoy almost as much. Although it might seem like a lot of lotioning, the cream’s light formula allows me to apply it all day without worrying about it getting too sticky.

I apply Beekman’s Pure Goat Milk Hand Cream to protect my back. Then I rub in CeraVe’s Healing Ointment over it to seal in its moisturizing properties. Beekman’s Pure Goat Milk Whipped Body Cream is sometimes used instead. This happens when I already use it on my skin and feel lazy. Although thicker than hand cream, it is just as gentle and nourishing.

Do you want to try it?

This hand cream has been a lifesaver for me. If you need to figure out how your skin reacts to a new product for skin care, it is advisable to patch-test it. Here’s the SELF-guide on how to do at-home patch testing. Talking to a dermatologist about trying out a new skincare product is a good idea. This is especially true if your skin has acute or chronic conditions like eczema. This cream can be used if you don’t like vegan beauty products.

You may feel you have exhausted all options but can still not find the right-hand cream to soothe your dry, cracked skin. This is your signal to try it.
